Porsche 918 Spyder Concept
In 2010 Porsche gave us an idea of an upcoming 918 Spyder Concept at Geneva. 2 years later, this happened. The Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced-Plastic (CRFP), 3747 lb monster is coming in September. This Porsche's chassis is CRFP, and its curb weight (as mentioned above) is 3747 lbs or 3670 lbs with the Weissach Package, which reduces the weight by 77 lbs. This car is a hybrid, as well as every other super car of the age. It has two electric motors, one for the front wheels and one for the back wheels, and a 4.6 liter V-8, that is put behind the seats, and combined with their steel-alloy exhaust system, makes great sound. And this produces a total of 795 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. The Porsche has a 7-speed automated-manual transmission, which may be a disappointment. Its top speed is 202 mph and it goes 0-62 in 3 seconds flat (that is 0-60 in roughly 2.8 seconds). They have new PASM suspension which automatically adjusts the shocks depending on the road condition. It also has a rear-axle steering system, which is basically precision steering at low speeds. It has a Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid and a Hot Lap mode. Now here is the best part... it has 78 MPG! 78! 78 MPG! That is better than a Prius, and people say Toyota is the only one who can make fuel efficient cars! The Porsche does have a lot of competition, among them the Acura NSX, McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari.
